“The Rebirth of Quinta do Noval” – Wine Spectator

The new issue of Wine Spectator (November 15) features an article titled “The Rebirth of Quinta do Noval,” that explains how Christian Seely returned Quinta do Noval to glory by “merging tradition with modernity over a 25-year run,” which put the “property back among the elite Port producers.”

The article details a scored vertical tasting (attended by Michael Quinttus and Alex Michas several months ago), including a rare single-parcel bottle of 1931 Nacional (the first of this wine), described as “legendary” and “breathtakingly sleek.”

One of the oldest port houses, Quinta do Noval is also arguably the greatest. It is unique among top port houses in that most of the ports are made from estate-grown fruit and, notably, all of the vintage Noval wines are from the single Quinta do Noval vineyard.
