About this video

Ponzi Vineyards President Maria Ponzi visits Good Day Oregon to talk about her family winery’s benchmark 50th anniversary this year. Together, they discuss the winery’s evolution and trailblazing past while tasting a few of their most popular wines made by her sister, Winemaker Luisa Ponzi, including the 2016 Chardonnay Reserve, 2016 Classico Pinot Noir and 2016 Pinot Noir Reserve.

Before the Willamette Valley became widely known across the world as a premiere wine region, the Ponzi family was settling into the damp, cold climate, thinking it could be just the right place to start a vineyard. Fifty years later, it’s grown into a world-class, well-known winery that has stood the test of time with its quality and class. Stephanie Domurat stopped by Ponzi Vineyards to speak with Anna Maria Ponzi about her family’s history in winemaking and how they’re celebrating their milestone year

The Pinot Noir Reserve comes primarily from estate grown fruit on Laurelwood soil in the Chehalem Mountains, including from some of Oregon’s oldest vines. It is hand crafted on a boutique scale, with tremendous attention to detail. An intense wine, it has an explosive nose of sassafras, coffee, sweet plum and spice box; a full and seamless palate with baker's chocolate, blueberry, lavender and tea; and a long and balanced finish.
